Inc. in New York. No. 110, issued for 100 shares to JC Pennewill on Oct. 30th, 1869 in Batavia, NY. Signed by the president (Chanderlonk?) and secretary HM Warren. Not cancelled. Black border and print. Vignette of active mining town. 25 cent adhesive stamp at left. Pinholes, deep folds, toning, repaired separations. 7 x 10.5 inches. Not mentioned by Browne (1868) or Raymond (1870). No articles found on CDNC or newspapers.com that can add location. Not in Filer. Possibly Reese River. Also has been presented as Unionville/ Starr City area. There was a "Batavia & Pacific" mine in the Relief District of Pershing County, Nevada in the late 1860s-1870s [Raymond, 1876]. Our consignor also believes this last identification. They state: This company operated the Relief mine some 1.5 miles northeast of Relief Canyon, Antelope Springs District, Humboldt (now Pershing) County, Nevada.
