Inc. in Massachusetts. Low No. 7, issued for 500 shares to Joseph H. Bragon on Sept. 29th, 1864 in Boston. Signed by president F.W. Pelton and treasurer Edward Lucas. Not cancelled. Purple and red print, no vignette. 25 cent IR adhesive stamp. Folds. 9.5 x 6" Not in any of our sale indexes, references, nor any previous sales. We could not locate this mine. It is possibly Georgia, based on another online listing that pairs assessment receipts for this company with a Georgia mining plat map. We cannot confirm this at time of print. F.W. Pelton was also president of the Portland & Oxford Central Railroad at this time, so it is possible the mine was in Maine. There was a F.W. Pelton that was mayor of Cleveland in 1871, though we aren't positive it is the same Pelton as our stock. More research is needed! State: Massachusetts City: Boston Date: 1864
