At one time, this may have been beadwork attached onto the edge of a blanket. It is lazy-stitched beadwork attached to an Indian-tanned buckskin base and now backed with a brownish-gold velveteen. The old-style, antique beads date this piece in the late 1800s, Victorian-era. Reddish-pink beads are whitehearts, made with a colored glass wrapped over a white glass core, and there are some metallic luster beads present also. There appears to be a button or ornament missing from the center of the large beaded circle.
