Beaded buckskin vest for a small child, mounted and framed in a Plexiglas box. Buckskin base is fully lazy-stitch beaded with red, blue, green, and turquoise glass beads on white beaded field with a blue beaded border. Bead size is 12/0. So-called "whiteheart" red beads (red glass exterior with white glass core) suggests it was made in the late 1800s. Each tassel of the buckskin fringe at the bottom is wrapped in dyed porcupine quills. Vest is lined with cotton trade cloth showing some heavy wear. Sewn with cotton thread, some missing bead lines at the creases, but otherwise in fair-to-good condition. Overall size is 12 x 13 inches plus quill-wrapped fringe. Origin is likely Northern Plains tribes, possibly Lakota Sioux. Plexiglass display box is 14 x 15 inches.
