Belle Union Cold and Silver Mining Co. – Storey County, Nevada Territory, Silver Star District Stock Certificate – Dated April 25, 1863, certificate #108 for 20 shares made out to H.H. Flagg. Incorporated March 10, 1863, and capitalized at $420,000; 1400 shares at $300 per share. The dateline was Gold Hill, N. T. but was crossed out and Virginia was written in. Signatures of President P. D. Hedley and Secretary, R. W. Billet are below. Both men are listed in Kelly's first Nevada Territory Directory: Hedley is listed as a Cashier Banking Department of Wells Fargo & Co. (p. 129) and Billet as a mill-owner residing at W side A near Union (p.117), both living in Virginia City. A 25-cent brown Internal Revenue Insurance stamp is affixed. Two vignettes, one of lady Liberty with a shield and eagle is at left and a head of a dog at center bottom. Printed black on ornate pink by Enterprise Print. Virginia City Nevada Franklin Collection
