The Bellevue Hotel was a short-lived but beautiful hotel on the shores of Lake Tahoe. It was built in 1888 and owned by Billy Lapham and was known to have one of the most beautiful views of Lake Tahoe. Sadly, the hotel was destroyed by fire in 1893. The photographer is identified as R.J. Waters, landscape photographer of Gold Hill, NV, who was active in the 1880s, but please note that he is listed in Berkeley on this card, which is not listed in Mautz. The matte measures 6.40"x 4.20" while the photograph measures 6.10" x 3.80." The focus is sharp and the contrast is medium to high. There is one small mark on the upper left corner, but it is in overall good condition. [REF: Lake Tahoe by Sara Larson].City: TahoeCounty: El DoradoState: CADate: c1888
