Rare Territorial according to Holabird Western American Auctions. #180 to John Sproston for 21 shares. Dateline Virginia, N. T., January 7, 1865. Signed by president C. Harvey and secretary L. S. Lissub(?). Allegorical vignette. Britton & Co. printer. 25c Power of Att'y revenue stamp. Very nice condition. Incorporated March 14, 1863. Although issued when Nevada was a very young state, this is considered territorial due to incorporation date. Location of mine was, "Story [sic] County, N. T." A rare misspelled Storey. Secretary Sproston worked as a secretary in the Gould & Curry mine around this time. By the 1870's he was a major insurance agent at Virginia City. He was so successful as Mutual had an insurance agent on hand. Those who lost property were quickly reimbursed this way, while others had to wait a significant time to get their paycheck. More notes on Sproston included.
