Inc. in California. No. 18, issued for 100 shares to JJ Lucas on June 27th, 1914. Signed by president William Labb and secretary Ellerson. Not cancelled. Brown border, black print, and detailed vignette with ships, cars, trains, airplanes, a cityscape, and an allegorical woman. No printer listed. Deep folds, toning. 9 x 11" This company operated a rollercoaster at Ocean Park, California! 1914 articles and ads in the Los Angeles Herald discuss its construction and investment in the company, calling it "the greatest paying amusement device in the United States." "In many respects this racing coaster will be unique on the Pacific coast. The entire ride will be out over the ocean, the longest ride of its kind on this side of the continent; its high point 100 feet above sea level, and with the longest single drop, 65 feet, that has ever been built in an amusement device of this sort. The Ben Hur racing coaster is being constructed in a gigantic figure 8. An unusual feature of the race is the fact that the tracks followed by opposing cars pass under and over each other, while in the center of the great 8 four trains will pass one point at the same time, all on different levels. This is known as the “corkscrew” race construction, and certainly makes good on its name." (Los Angeles Herald, Volume XL, Number 168, 16 May 1914)_x000D_ City: Ocean Park State: California Date: 1914
