This is a group of family items and art from the Ben-Tchavtchavadze Family, originally from Russia, that later moved to Ottowa, Canada. The Lot contains 3 reels of film, 2 bound scrapbooks, several catalogs and 5 framed pieces, including some art and family photographs.
Matriarch, Irina Ben-Tchavtchavadze, was born Irina nee Klimoff in Riga, Latvia, September 16, 1922, and married George Ben-Tchavtchavadze in 1945, immigrating to Canada in 1951 with her husband and children. After some years in Quebec City, the family settled in Ottawa, Ontario, where Irina worked in Canadas National Research Council until her retirement. Irina died in 2011 but is still fondly remembered today as the Mother of the Diplomatic Corps of Ottawa. Photographs of Irina and her family are present in this group that includes a leather bound photo album of Family and their home in Canada. The Family were avid art collectors, their impressive collection featuring both Russian and Canadian art, much of which we have sold in past auction, while several remaining pieces are included in this auction. Art is this lot:

3. 8.5" x 11" original watercolor profile portrait of older gentleman, framed under glass c1956
4. 8.5" x 11" original charcoal sketched portrait of older gentleman with raccoon or other fur hat, and white beard, framed under glass
5. 5" x 7" Horse Etching, titled "Vent d'automne signed lower right by Rodolphe Duguay, Quebec artist (1891-1973) framed under glass
6. 5" x 7" artwork of waterfront framed under glass, unknown if original or the artist.
