Lot of 3. The Best & Belcher was located in Virginia City and staked in 1859. The name is for the two men who purchased the claim from Henry Comstock and then sold it soon after. It was located between the Gould & Curry and Consolidated Virginia mines. It never paid any dividends. 1) Nevada Bank of San Francisco, Virginia, Nev. 1877. Company logo in blue on left border. Lith. Britton, Rey & Co., SF. Issued to James Wrinkle. Signed by supt. FF Osbiston. RN-G. 2) Same design as previous. Issued in 1879 to the Osbiston Shaft. Signed by HH Penoyer as supt. The Osbiston Shaft was located near the Gould & Curry and was an attempt to intersect the lode at great depth. The Best & Belcher and Gould & Curry mines worked together on it. In the 1880s, it reached a depth of 2,500 ft. 3) Wells Fargo & Union Trust Co. check issued in 1930 to General Motors.
