Unusually large, heavy lock, cemented shut by a century underwater. Manufactured by T. SLAIGHT of Newark, New Jersey (see advert in images). Could this be one of the locks used in the gold room? The key that would have opened this lock would be the size of one of the two smaller keys on Purser Hall's keyring, which are larger than a standard padlock's keys. Measures 5" long x 3" across x 1" thick.

Recovered in 1990 from the area near the commercial shipment, the gold room.

Published/illustrated in Ohio Journal of Science 1995(1), p. 154.
