Nice birds-eye view of Silverton showing rows of houses and structures with mountains in the background. 5 x 8" Pen notation on front reads "Silverton Colo, showing Kendall Mt." No photographer listed. Medium contrast. Foxing. Numerous mines, including the Lackawanna and Scranton Mines were located on Kendall Mountain. Prospectors first came to the Silverton area in 1860, towards the end of the Colorado Gold Rush. The land had been in use by the Utes. After the Brunot Agreement with the Utes in 1873, several mining camps, including Silverton, were established in the area.
