A letter signed by Egbert B. Birdsall, U.S. Army Lieutenant, dated 1828. Lt. Birdsall served at the historic Fort Leavenworth in Leavenworth County, Kansas, referred to as 'Cantonment Leavenworth' in the letter. As the Fort was built in 1827, this letter is from its very first year of operation. Birdsall writes to Brigadier General George Gibson, a U.S. commissary-general who served with General Andrew Jackson, regarding an Abstract Provision documenting an account of business. Slight wear and weak folds, strengthened on verso with archival paper. [ Fort Leavenworth Kansas
