Middle Pass mining district, Cochise County. Lot of 2 different. 1) No. 2035, issued for 100 shares in 1901 to William Crockard. Signed by Frank Crockard as president and N.O. Bagge as treasurer. Not cancelled. Black border with mining vignettes, green seal and background. 25 cent documentary stamp attached top center. Folds. 2) No. 2363, issued for 200 shares to S.W. Park in 1902. Same corporate signatures as previous. Not cancelled. Brown border. Two 10 cent documentary stamps attached bottom center. Folds, tape repaired separations. This area of the Dragoon Mountains was an important stronghold for Apache warrior Cochise and was thus not prospected extensively until after his death in 1879. N.O. Bagge and associates from West Virginia organized the company in 1897. It was developed through 1901 incl. a furnace and tram from the mine to the smelter. They were up and running by 1903 but after 2 years of no profit, it was reorganized in 1905-06. It shutdown again in 1907. It reopened briefly in 1929.
