A complete alphabetic file of original business correspondence kept by Mr. William Blackford, Attorney of Lewistown, Montana. c1923-1931 A massive file of original correspondence, no longer in alphabetic order. Includes 300+ pieces including investment statements, letters from other law offices, legal settlements, legal notices, responses to subpoenas, financial disclosures, and various others. Subject matter includes affidavits, subpoenas, disclosure of financial documents, trust accounts, briefs, case proceedings, financial crimes and much more. An in-depth review of this file is definitely recommended. Not only is there correspondence to and from William Blackford, but also about Mr. Blackford and legal matters involving him directly. Some handwritten letters, utility bills, receipts, and other standard business correspondence is also included. A quick internet search on Blackford returned the following: "William Blackford came to Lewistown in 1894 and soon married Anna Otten...Blackford was a brilliant, civic-minded attorney who also loved his home and spent every spare moment in his backyard garden....When he died in 1938, court adjourned for the funeral so that all could pay their respects."
