Kentucky Blue Lick Water Co./ Covington, KY.

Deep amber, thousands of seed bubbles, applied top, 10.6” tall, 3.25” diameter. Tiny top of lip “ding”. Similar tiny “ding” on rim of base, both barely noticeable. This is a different Blue Lick bottle than we’ve had before. Extremely Rare, c1870’s. Blue Lick is in Nicholas County, Kentucky on the margin of the Licking River (The Lower Spring was literally 20 feet from the river in 1873). There were two separate springs, the Upper and Lower Blue Lick Springs, managed separately, according to Walton, 1873 The Mineral Springs of the United States and Canada. The upper springs were “exceptionally fine waters of the saline-sulphur class”. It was bottled and distributed ”in the leading cities of the Ohio and Mississippi Valley.” The Lower Springs were well known to Pioneers, and this spring was used by Daniel Boone who also got salt from the site to cure venison.
