Gorgeous certificate issued in 1891 to Henry P. Rourke for 500 shares. Signed by president Coroner (?) and the company secretary. Not cancelled. Red facsimile revenue imprint and two mining vignettes.Pinholes, folds, very fine. Principal Office listed as Denver. Not in Filer. The mine was located in Summit County. The name appears in the 1883 Congressional Edition, Volume 2113, listing R.A. Sanky as president. Prospectors entered what is now Summit County during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush of 1859, soon after the placer gold discoveries farther east at Idaho Springs. The town of Breckenridge was founded to serve the miners working rich placer gold deposits discovered along the Blue River. Placer gold mining was soon joined by hard rock mining, as prospectors followed the gold to its source veins in the mountains. Gold in some upper gravel benches north of the Blue River was recovered by hydraulic mining. (Al Adams Gold Rush Memorabilia Collection) Date: Location: Summit County, Colorado HWAC# 58441
