Staffordshire Blue & White Transferware with Ferrara Etruria Wedgwood pattern. 2-Piece Strainer dish with holed plate and bowl. Also used as a soap Dish or Victorian style butter dish Set includes holed dish or plate that sits snugly inside bowl; outside edge of insert dish 7", 2.25" high to top edge of dish, bowl 3.25" diameter at base; no cracks, chips or repairs; This is an unusual piece. Possibly ironstone? Dish fits perfectly inside bowl, which was filled with ice to keep butter cool sitting on dish on top in the Victorian style butter dish once popular. Also used as a strainer for berries, or other items, or as a soap dish. Rare design indicates it is an early piece for this pattern (late 1800s) Excellent condition.
