Lot of 2 very rare pictorial billheads. Both issued in 1890 in Boca to the Boca Mill Company for cases of bottled beer. Fancy illustrated logo with vignette of man in a mountain forest. Folds, some toning. Each 6.5 x 8.25" The Boca Brewing Company was formed in 1875. The Boca Mill Company started lumbering in the 1860s. Boca is located about 10 miles south of Truckee. The location was perfect for ice harvesting, and Boca Brewing Co.'s beer brewing process required lots of ice to keep the beer cool. Boca beer became a favorite in California and Nevada mining and timber camps, as well as the railroad towns. Boca Brewing Company was the Pacific Coast’s first producer of lager beer.
