Nice set of 4 checks plus other bank documents from the great mining town of Bodie, CA. 1) Unused check No. 449. Tan colored. RN-G1. Vignette at left. 2) Green/blue check No. 12172. RN-G1. Dateline Bodie, Cal. Oct. 15th, 1880. Pay G.W. Chesley $45. Signed by Pope as cashier. Spindle hole. Reverse is signed by Chesley and stamped "For Deposit with bank of California, Frank Miller, Cashier." 3) Different style Bodie Bank check. Smaller (6 1/2" x 2 1/2"). RN-G1. Dateline Bodie, Cal. April 8, 1879. Pay to J.S. McCormack $12.50. Signed by illegible. Three spindle holes. 4) Larger version of 3. Dateline Bodie, Cal. April 5, 1879. Pay to Judge Little $40. Signed by M. Meseen (?). RN-G1. Spindle holes and folds. Bottom right corner missing. 5) Two charge slips (one from 1878 and one from 1879) that each measure 7" x 3". Both have blue Bodie Bank stamp. Folds and pinholes. 6) Postcard from bank in New York addressed to WH Pope, cashier in Bodie. Stamped "Received Jan 31, 1880/ Bodie, Cal." Measures approx. 5" x 3" Date: Bodie CA hwac 20808
