Ultra rare issued Bodie Bluff certificate. # 466 for 3 shares. Dated September 18, 1863. Signed by the secretary Bechtel and president Leland Stanford. This is the darkest and boldest of the Stanford signatures. Stanford was an important western financier, president of the CPRR, Gov. of California (1861-63), and US Senator (1885-93). This was the first consolidation of mines at Bodie, but failed for Stanford. The certificate itself is very attractive! Underprint in red with number of shares, view of Bodie Mountain with the mines clearly identified, etc. Printer was Agnew & Deffenbach of San Francisco. Extremely fine condition with no edge, corner of discoloration issues. Two very small pin holes in middle of stock and one small discoloration on reverse. An added bonus is that it is issued to William Feast. Feast was city treasurer of Aurora when it was in California. He moved the records to Bridgeport just about this time.
