Inc. August 6th, 1892. No. 47, issued for 10 shares to Sam Nevan on Oct. 15th, 1892 in Bodie. Signed by president Thomas Leggett and secretary RL McCarthy. Not cancelled. Black border and print. ES Crocker Co., SF. JS Cain dividend stamps on reverse (Cain would take over this company). Folds, some staining and a small hole. Thomas Leggett took over the Standard Mine in Bodie in 1890. The mine, under Leggett's direction, became a pioneer in using cyanide for gold and silver extraction. Leggett built the first cyanide plant on the West Coast in Bodie in 1894. He also successfully brought electricity to Bodie's mines to replace steam power.
