Lot of 3. 1) Receipt for Exchange, 1879, for Robert Williams purchasing a $50 Bill of Exchange from Wells Fargo to be paid in London. Signed by the Wells Fargo agent. 4 x 7" 2) Nevada & California Telegraph Co. telegram sent from San Francisco to the Bodie Bank in 1881. Message in code (likely regarding mining stock sales). Rare telegraph office with company officers based in Genoa, Nevada. The Nevada & California Telegraph Company was described in Thompson & West, 1881. It was formed in September 1878 with a main office in Genoa. It connected the communities on the Comstock (Virginia City, Gold Hill ,Silver City, Empire) with mining camps along the California/Nevada border including Bodie and Aurora. The length of the line was 112 miles. 3) Bodie Bank check with imprinted revenue, RN-G, 1879. Payment to JJ Welch from EA Friend.
