This stock certificate is very RARE as it is issued to a Chinese merchant. But the real story lies in the signatures in two of Bodie's most influential citizens. It was purchased by Tong Sing Wo in 1892. He as the Chinese Boss in Bodie. (His house is one of two remaining Chinese buildings in Bodie.) He had a three story building. The first floor was his store, the second was the opium den and the third was for his best opium customers! The back lists six dividends. Five are stamped J. S. Cain and one has his signature. Five pages of history of Cain, Wo, and Pretty Maggie (a tragic story!) Stock certificate number 70 for 10 shares to Wo. Signed by R McCarty and Thomas Leggett. Cancelled in red in 1907.
