Grafton Tyler Brown was one of the first African American lithographers in the American West during the mid to late 19th Century. He was one of the first to illustrate views of California and the Pacific Coast. He also created the 2 earliest bird's eye views of Virginia City. By the time he was 26, Brown owned his own firm located in San Francisco. Certificate #174 issued to a W.H. Lent Trustee on November 1, 1878 for 100 shares, signed C. Hobbs president. Black. Reverse six revenue stamped in purple. The Booker Consolidated Gold Mining Co. was located in the Bodie Mining District in Mono County. The stock has some wear including creases and some stains.
