This is a most interesting looking certificate with a nice story. Vertical certificate. # 474 for 100 shares to William Banks. Signed by president Jacob Pfaff and treasurer HC Buckminster. Dateline Boston June 5, 1899, Location: Napa Co., California. Not cancelled. No vignette. Boston Banknote & Litho Co. Pinholes. One heavy fold. OVerall very nice. "Dr. O. C. Bubblier came down Saturday from the Boston quicksilver mine, located near Tine Flat. He brought some samples of ore recently developed in the mine. The samples are very fair indeed, and a good indication of what the owners are hoping for, and have so steadily been in pursuit of for the past years. The indications shown in the samples themselves are most excellent, being a combination of cinnabar, copper and iron, minerals which in a vaporized form came up and deposited themselves. The strike was made on the apex of the body of ore. As the mass widens as depth is reached, the chances are that the cinnabar ore will grow richer. We hope for them all the success they deserve, for their faith and work on the lode. The Boston is owned by O. C. Huebner, W. F. O’Leary and James Conran. The latter is an experienced quicksilver miner." Healdsburg Tribune, February 23, 1899 Prag Collection State: California City: Napa County, Tine Flat Date: 1899
