Vignettes on left side of railroad crossing over bridge and 2 of designs on either side. Printed: Kawdon, Wright & Hatch, NY. Boston and Providence Railroad ran in Massachusetts and Rhode Island which connected Boston and Providence. Opened in 2 sections, one in 1834 and the other in 1835. Branches were built: Dedham - 1834, Stoughton - 1845, and North Attleboro - 1871. In 1888 acquired by Old Colony Railroad. Line became the New Haven's primary mainline to Boston. Became part of the Penn Central system in 1969; the section in Massachusetts was purchased by the state in 1973, while Amtrak acquired the Rhode Island section in 1976. The line was electrified in 2000 and now part of Amtrak's Northeast Corridor.
