Lot of 3. The Bovard District is also known as the Rand District and is located in the Gabbs Valley Range of Mineral County. The district took on the Bovard name in 1907. It was sometimes divided into three smaller districts: Copper Mountain on the northwest, and Bovard and Rand on the southeast. Silver was discovered in April 1908 by Al Bovard and other prospectors from Rawhide. Bovard became founded by miners from Rawhide. 1) Quartz Claim Location Notice, Oct. 26th, 1907. For the "Rainbow No. 3" claim located by A.J. Bovard and W. Thrailkill (?). Signed by both at the bottom. Heavy staining including water damage and a separation along a center fold. 13 x 8.25" This item was found by Bennett in a tobacco can when he was doing mining work in the area. 2) Two issued identical stock certificates for the Bovard Consolidated Mines Company. Lists the location as Bovard, Esmeralda County (Mineral County was formed from parts of this county in 1911). Issued in 1910. Not cancelled.
