Certificate was issued for 500 shares in 1855 at New York. The company's property consists of 130 acres of land, located in the courty of Louisa, State of Virginia, and two miles from Tolersville station on the Virginia Central Railroad, and fifty-seven miles from Richmond, Virginia, with a good road to the mines.A private report by Professor N. S. Manross was made to parties before the purchase, he having been employed by them for that purpose. The samples assayed by Professor Manross had laid outdoors and exposed to the weather for over four years, and, accordingly, were much reduced in percentage of copper. Subsequent developments by the present Company showed a much larger percentage of copper. The mine was later known as the Central Virginia mine. In 1853, the property was known as the Groome's mine and looked good for copper. The certificate has extra folds and the writing is light. VF. Uncanceled.
