Inc. in Montana. Low number 13, issued for 6,666 shares to noted Montana banker Henry Elling in 1899 in Bozeman. Signed by Elling on reverse. Signed by president Mendenhall and secretary George Cox. Punch cancelled. Black border and print, orange background, ornate logo with floral design, and a vignette of an allegorical woman. Four different adhesive revenue stamps along the right border. 8 x 10" Sold to the Gallatin Valley Electric Railway in 1909. Henry Elling was a prominent 19th-century banker, merchant, and early settler in Virginia City, Montana, who became one of the region's leading financiers during the post–gold rush era. He founded the Elling State Bank and invested heavily in mining, real estate, and community development, helping to shape the economic foundation of southwestern Montana.
