Compiled by Edwin S. Metcalf and published by J. A. & R. A. Reid of Providence. This directory contains census, population, calendar, table of contents, index to advertisers, etc. Ads include a timetable for the Providence, Warren, and Bristol Railroad. This is the first year that Samuel Colt was elected to represent Bristol in the Rhode Island legislature at the ripe old age of 24. He would establish the Industrial Trust Corporation which would eventually morph into the Bank of America. He was the nephew of Samuel Colt (Colt 45). Just think of what other stories wait to be told! Book is in poor condition (covers disconnected and stained, binding much worn), but the pages are in good shape (except for a little staining at the beginning). VERY EARLY! 135 pages with additional advertising pages. [i]
