About 15 pieces, reddish color, location unknown. Obsidian is a black volcanic glass that forms when molten rock solidifies quickly before crystals begin to grow. Occasionally white minerals separate from the rest of the glassy material and form snowflake-like patterns in stark contrast to the black matrix. Sometimes the composition of the lava gives obsidian a rich chocolate brown color.
