Well , do you like unusual Items?... Do you like a mystery ? Well, here is its . A very unusual find. This item came from a ranch site, in Reno, Nevada. It is a operational whistle, with a chain, in bronze metal . Very long hand made linked chain, mounted on barn wood with a hand made nail. The owner had this for over 50 years. Here is what the note says on the item: " This whistle belonged to William F. Cody A.K.A " Buffalo Bill. It was given to my grandmother , Rhea Elliot Snyder, in the 1920's...by the nephew of Buffalo Bill, Bill Cody. Note, the catch on this chain end of the whistle, as it appears, the whistle may have fit into the butt end of a hand gun ". We have no way of verifying if this is the original whistle. Authenticity unknown at this time. But, i did see a 1895 or 1900 film, when i was a kid , in 1960. It was for a performance of the Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, for Queen Victoria of England. Buffalo Bill came out in the center of the area, made a speech, and then blew a whistle , to start the show. But, i could not see the whistle clearly, when i was a kid...It may be the same one...but I don't know...that's the story...that's all folks...very Interesting item. State: Wyoming City: Cody Date: 1890's 1900.
