Great Nevada history piece! Issued to J. B.Overton 1899 # 57 9 shares. Overton is a name well-known to Comstock collectors. He came to California around Cape Horn during the Gold Rush and successfully mined in Weaverville before running a business in Rich Bar. He was elected county clerk for Plumas County, before heading to work for a brokerage in San Francisco. He came to Virginia City in 1871 to oversee the construction of the Virginia & Gold Hill Water Co. Signed by Richard Kirman, future governor of Nevada.
