A rare piece, no. 16 issued to Jacob Klein for three shares signed by Jacob Klein, president and T. R. Hofer, cashier. Cancelled. Jacob Klein (1831-1899) Born in Alsace, France and immigrated to Nevada in 1860. Jacob started the Carson Brewery with John Wagner and August Berhauser. Nevada’s first and longest operating brewery (1860-1948), the location was on King Street and today, it’s operated as the Brewery Arts Center. Klein was the founder of the Bullion and Exchange Bank in Carson City, Nev., and managed its affairs at a time when the Comstock mines poured out their silver store. -and bullion and coin passed over the bank's counters In tons.
