Sept 1, 1900 Denver Examiner. 2 front page headlines-Union Pacific Train Held up and Details of Daring train Robbery with 2 columns of text with news of the Tipton Train Robbery in Wyoming Territory by Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid(the Wild Bunch), one of the loosely organized outlaw gangs operating out of the Hole-In-The-Wall, near Kaycee in Wyoming, a natural fortress of caves with a narrow entrance that was closely guarded. In the beginning, the gang was described as the "Hole in the Wall Gang" during the old West era in the US. The gang was led by Butch Cassidy, it included his old friend Elzy Lay, the Sundance Kid, Tall Texan, News Carver, Camilla "Deaf Charley" Hanks, Laura Bullion, Flat-Nose Curry, Kid Curry and Bob Meeks. They were the most successful train robbing gang in history. On August 29, 1900 Butch Cassidy, the Sundance Kid, Kid Curry and another unidentified gang member believed to be Will Carver, held up another Union Pacific train at Tipton, WT. This is a very rare and displayable robbery newspaper! Light upper right pencil and upper left curator adhesive tag.
