Set of 5 cabinet photos. Each measures 7 1/2" x 5 1/4." Five different views of mining scenes along the river. Miners are moving the river so that they can mine the river bed, including installing a flume to redirect the water. This is most likely the Feather River. Great look at a feat of mining engineering at the turn of the century! Condition: soiling and possible water damage, most noticeable on the backs of the photos. Some photos have scratches. Even with damage, photos are still very presentable and tell an interesting story. Butte County produced over three million ounces of gold from 1880-1959, most from placers.
