Lot of 9 different. Best is 1) The Montana Hardware Co. No. 17, issued for 500 shares in 1900. Signed by J. Ross Clark (president) and secretary Hamilton. Pen cancelled. J. Ross Clark was an important figure in Montana, California and Nevada histories. He followed his brother to Montana where William A. Clark became one of the three Montana "Copper Kings." For health reasons, Ross left Montana and moved to Los Angeles in 1892. There, he became involved in railroading and sugar beet farming. With his brother (and E.H. Harriman), he formed the San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake City Railroad in 1902 in an effort to connect Montana and Los Angeles. 2) Others include: Automatic Train-Pipe Connector Co. (1917); Butte Carriage Works (two different unissued); Butte Ornamental Iron Works (#2, 1913); New Butte Hardware Company (1927); Butte Sewer Pipe & Tile Company (1902); Montana Concrete Co. (1913); and Montana Hardware Co. (1927).
