Very impressive 1905 Prentiss and Hart of San Francisco framed Byron Hot Springs Hotel mammoth sized panorama photo. Located dead center between Danville and Stockton. We found no evidence of them advertising in newspapers. This once proud building is now a crumbling skeleton of its former beauty. The Oakland Tribune would announce the newly arriving guests. The hotel was opened in 1889 and burned in 1901. Newly rebuilt in 1901, it burned again in 1912. Used as a makeshift hospital immediately after The Great Byron Train Disaster of 1902. Operation continued until 1938 when its' owner died. In 1941 it was used as an interrogation center for Japanese and German prisoners. In about 1946 or 1947 the Greek Orthodox Church established Mission St. Paul, and the building has been essentially dead since 1956. Photo 20.25x64.5". Also includes about 35 hotel vintage postcards. There is a 20" mostly horizontal tear on the right side, mostly hard to see from a distance. Some bottom edge degradation. Please inspect. Byron Hot Springs California
