44505. CP Moormon, JH Cutter whiskey bottle, rare variant. This Cutter is one of the very rare variants discussed in Thomas' book. Thomas number 40. This is the variant with the A No. 1 inside a circle on the shoulder, instead of the OK on the shoulder. The bottle is circa 1875. These bottles were generally found in mining camps in Nevada. Thomas does not discuss the rarity of this bottle other than to state it is a rare variety. This bottle is a choice medium green-amber whiskey with light whittle. In fluorescent light it screams green. The bottle is in "as found" condition with only very light abrasion to a part of the surface and a small burst bubble on the rear base. These minor imperfections would be removed within five minutes by buffing wheel. This is a choice example of a rare and popular western whiskey. Please come and look!
