Two near-identical photographs by Carleton Watkins. The photos are meant to be viewed through a stereoscope and are mounted together on a card. Watkins was an influential landscape photographer known for his documentation of California and the Pacific Coast. The photographs depict a group of sea lions near a rocky beach at the Farallon Islands just outside of San Francisco. The card has text reading "Watkins' Pacific Coast", along with a San Francisco address, the title and location of the sea lion photos, and a list of available photos for purchase, though this is partially covered by the images.
