Joseph Hooker was a California pioneer (Sonoma County) and unsuccessful politician before serving for the Union Army in the Civil War. He is famous for losing the Battle of Chancellorsville and is attributed to the term "hooker" for prostitute, as he had a wild reputation and company. Prag Collection
