This lot includes one CDV of Albert Sidney Johnston as well as a parlor card of the same size. The CDV is at 2.5 in. X 4in. and unmarked to his identity, but unmistakably Johnston. The reverse side is marked T. Tilienthal 102 Poyras St. New Orleans. A parlor card is a print block engraving by Chas. Magnus , 12 Frankford St. New York. Albert Sidney Johnston graduated 8th in his class a West Point in 1826. He was considered by some to be the finest general officer in the Confederacy. He was killed early in the Civil War at the Battle of Shiloh in 1862. A. S. Johnston was the highest-ranking Confederate officer killed during the Civil War. Jefferson Davis later commented that the loss of Johnston "was the turning point of our fate."
