PMG graded 35 - choice very fine. The stock certificate looks almost like a bank note. It is for shares 11,341 to 11,350. Signed by president and secretary - very hard to decipher names. Three vignettes: half nude winged lady, Native American female and Native American male. Slight rounded corner on bottom left. Cabarrus County was a gold producing area for North Carolina. The first gold nugget was found in 1799. It was surveyed January 30, 1827. The Cabarrus Mine (also known as the Ellsworth & Crosby) was located 8.8 miles southeast of Concord. Carpenter notes that numerous small pits and approximately six shafts were concentrated along the crest of a narrow, northeast trending ridge. The deepest shaft was only 75 feet.
