View of thirteen men and women posing on a porch in front of a two story white structure. Photographer is F.E. Bosworth (ad on reverse of card). According to Mautz, Bosworth was active in Etna Mills in 1893. Measures 5.25" x 8.5." Chipping and stains to cardstock and edges of photograph. Contrast is low. Etna Mills was located in Siskiyou County. A flour mill was built in that area about 1867 when the town was called Rough and Ready. Nearby was another small mill and town called Aetna Mills. In 1861 and 1862, flooding damaged the town of Aetna Mills so much that businesses had to move to Rough and Ready. In 1870, to avoid confusion with other towns in California, the named was changed and shortened to Etna Mills.
