This lot has a cabinet card of Lotta Crabtree who grew up in gold country California and later became the wealthiest female singer and actress of her time. While appearing in mining towns between California and Nevada, she was often showered by gold coins and gold dust which was swept-up by her mother after the performance. The card measures 4 in. X 6 3/4 in. notated in ink as "1880/Lotta Crabtree/ 1847-1924", stained upper right corner. A second cabinet card depicts Lotta's mother and aunt in excellent condition. Both cards are from Houseworth's Celebrities Monterey Street, San Francisco. Later in life she gifted a fountain of a lighthouse prop to the city of S.F. that became a focal point after the 1906 earthquake that destroyed the city. The fountain still exists but has been relocated in the city. A lithograph of 1880's San Francisco is also included giving a view of the city in transition. Please see photos for details.
