From events of the The Native Daughters of the Golden West (established 1886) is a fraternal and patriotic organization founded on the principles of Love of Home, Devotion to the Flag, Veneration of the Pioneers, Faith in the Existence of God. Included are a program for a 1899 event, a card for a 1901 Social Dance, and a 1902 Dance Card. The Sacramento Daily Union wrote about one event: "CALIFIA PARLOR. It Gave a Delightful Anniversary Banquet . Last Evening at the Califia Parlor, No. 22, Native Daughters of the Golden held its eighth anniversary banquet last night at Pioneer Hall, and a most thoroughly enjoyable affair it was, too. A large number of Native Sons, as well as Daughters, were present and partook of the hilarity attendant on the occasion. It has passed into a proverb that whatever a Parlor does, it does well last evening maintained the record, 'the first part of the program was a musical and literary entertainment, which was excellent. The "Village Choir", perfectly unrecognizable in the loveliness of its members received spirited applause, and the shadow pantomime was not one whit behind it in its comic element, "Doc" Tebbels, as the bashful farmer swain, covering himself with glory."
