Three cards w/ Calif. Coast maps. 15 postmarked 1907-60. One Carpinteria 1959 w/stamped full face Santa Clause from Santa Clause Ca. and a second w/just mailed from Santa Clause , Ca. (stamped postage, no stamp). Los Angeles, Atascadero, Ventura, Salina, Fullerton, Cayucos, Hesperia, L.A. Arcade Annex. Street Level View: Matilija Canyon c1900 Mattai's Tavern, Los Olivos, Tajiguas Companion bridges w/RR pullman cars, Cayucos street scene c1940's, several Santa Clause, CA., Train depot on fire gasoline tank cars, San Buenaventura Mission. Campo Post Office & Gen Merchandise c1914, oil wells Summerland, Ca. (south of Montecito, no wells now). Birdseye view : Camp Roberts, Cayucos c1960, oil wells and piers at Summerland. Ca :First developed in the 1890s, and richly productive in the early 20th century, the Summerland Oil Field was the location of the world's first offshore oil wells, drilled from piers in 1896. Produced 3.18 million of barrels of oil during its 50-year lifespan, finally being abandoned in 1939-40. Another nearby oil field entirely offshore, discovered in 1957 and named the Summerland Offshore Oil Field, produced from two drilling platforms in the Santa Barbara Channel before being abandoned in 1996.
