Lot of 2. 1) Aug. 2nd, 1855 cover to FW Page (of Page & Bacon in San Francisco). Red oval Wells Fargo express Sacramento cancel over red three cent postage. 2) Cover sent from WO Sleeper & Co., Bankers, in Columbia to Fretz & Ralston, Bankers, in San Francisco. Blue oval Wells Fargo Columbia cancel and black oval stamp for Sleeper. Date not readable, but others like it we've sold were from 1853. Ralston is WC Ralston, who would go on to form the Bank of California and be a major player on the Comstock in Nevada. Sleeper took over this Columbia branch from DO Mills.
