Dateline Vulcan Iron Foundry (which was in San Francisco). This is a letter detailing the delivery of a boiler to Mormon Island and working around the 4th of July holiday in 1852. The express company is Adams & Co.; while they made a significant contribution to the gold country as a bank and express company they only operated from 1849-1855. A rare find for communication during the California gold rush era. Good color contrast on ink with several folds. Very readable. Please see photo for details.
